What Would Jesus Eat? – The Jesus Diet
The Jesus Diet – What Would Jesus Eat?
“What Would Jesus Eat” is the rhetorical question Dr. Don Colbert asks in his book. The answer is that the Jesus diet was a Mediterranean style diet. Cooking and eating habits have changed very little in that area of the world since Jesus’s time. Jesus ate a lot of fruit, a lot of fish, a whole grains, in addition to vegetables and olive oil. And of course, wine is a main component of many Mediterranean meals. You should always make wine a part of your healthy diet.
Whole-grains are the best type of carbohydrates you can eat. They are much better than the simple carbohydrates found in products made from refined sugar and flour. Next time you go grocery shopping, buy more bread and pasta products made from whole grains rather than refined flour.
How The Jesus Diet Can Give You More Energy
What you eat on a daily basis determines how much energy you have. You should always eat a balanced combination of carbohydrates, protein and fat to maintain high energy levels. In addition, space your meals out over the the course of the day. If you don’t drink enough water, you will also have less energy. Other foods that deprive you of energy include rich, fatty, fried foods, as well as those containing high amounts of refined sugar and flour. Cookies, candy and soft drinks should be avoided, as should fruit juices that offer no nutritional value. When you eat these foods, you will experience a “sugar high” followed by a hard crash that will leave you depleted of energy. You will get a similar experience from caffeine.
The Jesus Diet Includes Complex Carbohydrates
You have probably experienced the feeling of being calm and relaxed after eating a meal of simple carbohydrates. In fact, you may often feel that you would like to go to sleep right after eating. Eat more protein in order to avoid this feeling, but remember not to overdo a good thing.
How The Jesus Diet Can Boost Your Energy
- Make sure you have enough iron in your diet. This is especially important for women. If you need to, take an iron supplement or a multi-vitamin with iron.
- Eat something healthy once every three or four hours. This will give your metabolism a good boost. An apple, an orange or some sliced vegetables, like carrots or celery sticks are perfect. Each time your eat, your body’s metabolism increases. The more frequently your eat throughout the day, the more your metabolism increases.
- Eat fewer processed foods and more natural, whole foods. Stay away from chemicals and artificial colors and flavors as much as possible.
- Exercise to supercharge your metabolism! Take the stairs to the office instead of the elevator, go for a run at lunch, or leave the car at home and take your bike.
